August 2023 Write Up
All For One One For All (AFOOFA) Hoops, an AAU basketball program, strives to empower youth through skill development, community engagement, and a commitment to excellence. I sat down with Jesse Towles, the visionary behind the AFOOFA, to discuss the motivation driving his ambition.
Towles explained, “If our youth are pushed and made to believe that they can be someone special. They’ll end up becoming that special someone, and then they’re able to inspire their peers.”
According to Towles, AFOOFA Hoops is a comprehensive basketball development program that caters to a diverse range of age groups from 5th to 11th grade for both boys and girls. The program offers three levels within each grade – developmental, local, and regional teams. This structure ensures tailored training and mentorship for players at every stage of their development.
Jesse Towles’s key goals for his AFOOFA AAU basketball program include a commitment to fostering a culture that uses basketball to improve life skills like teamwork, leadership, responsibility, accountability, critical thinking, and the ability to navigate success and failure.
Since its inception in the spring of 2023, AFOOFA Hoops has rapidly gained momentum. The 14U AFOOFA Hoops Demons and Angels inaugural teams have shown remarkable dedication and skill. As the Fall/Winter season approaches, opportunities are available for boys and girls in 5th to 8th grade to join the program.
The program also has an unwaveringly committed to encouraging girls to engage in basketball and remain invested in the sport over time. “We want to get girls to demand the same level of attention as boys basketball,” shared Towles. “Let’s push women’s basketball ahead and teach players the importance of contacts and connections.”
For those considering AFOOFA Hoops, Towles’ message is clear: “Parents can expect me to push their children to be better. I expect what you expect, and that’s your child’s very best.”
At the core of AFOOFA Hoops lies a commitment to community engagement and service. The All For One One For All Foundation, the program’s nonprofit arm, plays a vital role in this endeavor. AFOOFA Foundation is actively working to positively impact the community through food drives, back-to-school support, basketball camps, and mentorship programs. The foundation’s focus on fostering self-esteem and self-confidence is a proactive step toward addressing challenges like gun violence, bullying, and substance abuse.
“I want to help the athletes in my program become exceptional athletes, responsible community members, and role models. Players who are part of my program can anticipate not only growth within basketball but also growth in personal development.”
Registration for AFOOFA is now open for the 2023 Fall and Winter seasons. See below for more information.
